At the Airport

SIM Card and Connectivity

Purchase a Saudi SIM card at the airport — STC, Mobily, and Zain are the main providers. A 10GB data plan costs approximately 75 SAR ($20). WhatsApp and video calls work well for staying connected with family back home.

Currency and Money

The Saudi Riyal (SAR) is pegged to the US Dollar at 3.75 SAR = $1 USD. Exchange money at the airport or use ATMs (widely available). Credit cards are accepted at most shops and restaurants. Carry some cash for small purchases and tips.

Getting to Your Hotel

Cultural Etiquette

Saudi Arabia follows Islamic law. Dress modestly at all times, be respectful during prayer times when shops close, do not take photos of people without permission, and follow the separate queues for men and women at public venues. Tipping is appreciated but not required — 10% at restaurants is generous.
